Level 1 is the foundation, known as “Shoden” in Japanese. It focuses on self-healing and introduces the flow of Reiki energy. Practitioners learn the basics of energy healing, hand positions, and techniques for channeling Reiki to themselves and others. The attunement received in Level 1 opens energy channels, enabling a deeper connection with the universal life force. The emphasis here is on physical healing and cleansing.

Level 2, or “Okuden,” deepens the practice by introducing powerful symbols and mantras that significantly expand a practitioner’s abilities. These symbols, such as the Cho Ku Rei (Power Symbol), Sei He Ki (Emotional/Mental Symbol), and Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen (Distance Healing Symbol), allow practitioners to perform distance healing and direct energy for specific purposes. At this level, practitioners can address mental and emotional issues and send Reiki across time and space.

The Master Level, known as “Shinpiden,” is the final step in mastering Usui Reiki. This level is for those who wish to teach Reiki or for practitioners seeking to deepen their own spiritual practice. It involves a more profound spiritual commitment, learning advanced healing techniques, and the attunement process to initiate others. At this level, practitioners receive the Master symbol, which amplifies their ability to channel Reiki and supports their spiritual growth.
